Peer39 partnered with Vesta Stream Studios, a premium OTT streaming and monetization platform, in Q1 2026 to enable program-level contextual intelligence for CTV. In addition to program-level, this integration brings brand suitability and content transparency to Vesta's FAST and CTV inventory across 50M+ devices. Following our integration, we had the privilege to sit down with Beej Gefsky, VP Content Acquisition & Partnerships at Vesta, to dive deeper.
Why was Peer39 the right partner for you?
Beej Gefsky: Peer39 stood out because of its program-level contextual intelligence tailored for CTV environments. As a premium OTT platform, contextual fidelity is mission-critical for us. We required a partner capable of ingesting structured content metadata and translating it into scalable, privacy-safe signals within the bidstream. Peer39’s ability to align contextual classification with CTV-specific monetization workflows made it the optimal partner.
How has CTV fraud—such as spoofing—impacted your business, and was that one of the reasons you chose to work with Peer39 to address that?
Although we have not been aware of any confirmed instances of inventory spoofing to date, partnering with Peer39 reinforces our contextual validation framework by ensuring that bidstream content signals are consistently aligned with authenticated metadata. Fraud mitigation in CTV is inherently multi-layered, encompassing IVT detection, supply chain object validation, and rigorous sellers.json governance. Within that architecture, contextual coherence serves as a critical additional integrity control. That said, our primary motivation was to enhance signal depth, improve bid confidence, and ultimately drive stronger monetization performance.
Has the VPPA impacted your business in any way, and did you decide to work with Peer39 in order to help mitigate that risk?
VPPA compliance has materially influenced how the industry approaches identity and content signals. We have proactively shifted toward privacy-forward contextual strategies that do not rely on personally identifiable viewing data. Peer39 enables us to surface contextual insights without exposing user-level behavioral data. That alignment with privacy-safe monetization models was a strategic consideration.
Why is it important for your business to use dynamic IDs or content IDs versus other identifiers you’ve seen in the market?
Dynamic content IDs allow us to maintain deterministic mapping between asset-level metadata and bidstream signals. Static or third-party abstracted IDs often introduce ambiguity or signal decay. For Vesta, dynamic IDs enable precise contextual targeting and improve floor optimization by genre/category. They also ensure that content signals remain synchronized across distribution endpoints.
Was it important for you to work with a content ID solution that allows you to use your own proprietary ID?
Absolutely. Owning the content ID namespace ensures we retain canonical control over metadata normalization. It prevents dependency on external taxonomies that may not fully represent our content strategy. Peer39’s flexibility in supporting identifiers was strategically important because it allows us to maintain ecosystem consistency while enriching signals externally.
Looking ahead, what would you like to see over the next year in terms of standardizing content data and how it’s surfaced?
We would like to see broader adoption of OpenRTB 2.6 app.content object standardization in CTV and stronger alignment between content IDs and contextual segments across SSPs. Standardization will reduce fragmentation and unlock higher bid confidence across the ecosystem.
What is your strategy for leveraging contextual data in 2026?
In 2026, our contextual strategy will focus on contextual PMPs built around premium verticals. We strongly view contextual data as a revenue amplifier rather than merely a compliance solution.
How does Peer39 support or enable those goals?
Peer39 enhances our bidstream with standardized, privacy-safe contextual signals that improve demand interpretability. Their classification granularity has allowed buyers to bid with higher confidence, increasing both fill and CPM stability. They also provide interoperability across SSP endpoints, reducing contextual signal fragmentation.
What challenges do you face around content metadata when you are not the owner of the content (e.g., working with distribution partners)?
The primary challenges we face include inconsistent genre taxonomy across licensors and variations in content rating standards. When operating as a platform rather than content owner, normalization becomes essential. Peer39 adds value by applying an additional classification layer that mitigates inconsistencies from upstream partners.
